Rhode Home Rescue specializes in rescuing dogs from unhealthy situations – be it kill shelters, incapable owners, and surrenders – and finding them the furever homes they deserve. At Rhode Home, we fully believe that adopting a rescue not only save them, but saves you too!
Rhode Home Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose volunteers have many years of rescue experience. Our mission is to identify and rescue all types of dogs from overwhelmed euthanasia shelters and abusive situations and place them in secure, loving homes. We are a foster-based program, consisting of all volunteers, and have decided to branch out on our own in order to fulfill our mission.
Prior to a Rhode Home Rescue dog being adopted, each dog undergoes an examination by a veterinarian, is updated on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. At Rhode Home Rescue we firmly believe that a healthy, well trained dog is the key to the successful integration of a rescued dog and ensures a wonderful, loving companion for years to come.
The average cost to rescue a dog in 2012 was $720. Rhode Home Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and 100% of donations and fees are used for the rescue and care of these dogs!

We adopted our wonderful puppy Molly last week from this organization. I can't say enough good things about them! We had been trying to adopt for awhile but we couldn't find the right dog in local shelters and many of the rescue organizations either felt like puppy mills in disguise or were horribly disorganized or rude. Not these guys! They are thorough and the wonderful volunteers do everything they can to make sure the dogs go to good homes but unlike other rescues we communicated with did not pressure us into adopting right away or adopting a particular dog and we didnt feel judged at all. I love how once you are approved, you are able to look for the right dog for 6 months instead of committing to a dog you've never met and being told you can only meet them if you bring them home that day. They didn't pressure us at all and to be honest that made all the difference. We fell in love with Molly and her foster was wonderful. The woman who conducted our interview and home inspection was really great too and we owe it to her we lucked out with Molly. They were honest with us and told us up front that she knew zero commands, was not housebroken, hated her crate, and had never been on a leash before. We were glad they allowed us to make an informed decision and she has already learned sit and stay and had no accidents yesterday! She is also doing so much better in her crate and on a leash. Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to add this wonderful dog to our family and to anyone who is looking for a dog or puppy I can't recommend this organization enough!
We adopted our dog from RHR 2 years ago and they were amazing! The adoption process was much easier than all the other adoption agencies in RI, and they were much nicer! They even realized after we adopted our dog that she was due for another vaccine and paid for it! At the adoption event we met amazing volunteers who recommended dog walkers and vets, which made the process of adopting a dog so much smoother! I would adopt again from RHR in a heartbeat!!
I adopted my Ellie from RHR who turned 1 today!! Welcoming a rescue pup into my family has been a wonderful decision. I now foster for Rhode Home Rescue and it has been so fulfilling to help find these beautiful dogs loving families. I have met so many people during this experience with the same goals and each and every one of them is truly amazing. Big hearts, dedicated and caring group. What a wonderful feeling to see that truck pull up with dogs looking for their forever homes and knowing I can be a small part of that. I recommend fostering to everyone and I am always asked the same questions. How do I not get too attached and how do I give them up? Very simple answer. I do get attached but I am their stepping stone on their journey home. I am not giving them up, I am handing them over to their final destination at last. I turn the page but will never forget each and every pup I have loved. This rescue has become part of my family, and the dogs forever in my

Met an adoptable dog on a Wednesday when she was with her current Foster. Contacted Rhode Home Rescue and immediately applied for adoption. Here I am Saturday night with a little nugget. Quick, professional and charismatic. Everyone I dealt with that was part of Rhode Home Rescue was delightful. There was a dog adoption event (where we actually got to take her home) this morning from 11-2. It was about 95 degrees out and humid. These volunteers were giving every ounce of love and energy they had to potential parents and the dogs. It was pretty awesome. I am thankful for a pleasant experience from beginning to end.
I just want to say that we are so happy with our decision to rescue a puppy from Rhode Home Rescue.
We adopted Axl a week ago and he has brought so much joy to our home. He is an amazing puppy. We couldn’t be happier.
The application process was so easy and the volunteers are amazing.
Thank you,
Jamie, Melina & Axl
I adopted Brock aka Elvis (Lab/Retriever Mix) with them. The adoption went easy and smoothly. They were very helpful and encouraging with the process. I was pre-approved with them before I went and all I had to do was to fill out a quick form via phone app. Donated via PayPal. I've had Brock for nearly a month now and he's been great. So happy with him and how everything went. Highly recommend this rescue!
