Without fosters, Rhode Home couldn’t function. Help us find homes for our rescues!
I'm saving money for a puppy for my son who is confined to a wheelchair with a brain injury and a siezer disorder, and has allergies to animals hair and seeking a shih-tzu/something similar to that.must be kid friendly and wheelchair friendly and leash friendly and cat friendly?
A huge THANK YOU to all of the many volunteers, who made it possible for us to adopt our new family member. The screening process was clearly explained, and much info was provided with the fur baby we chose. Maddie is extremely well behaved, playful, asks to go out, and curious about anything and everything - as a 4 1/2 month old puppy. Right from the start, she had no signs of stress or behavioral problems of any kind. I think this is due to the great care/love that RHR and the foster family took with Maddie, in the week before she become an important part of our family. We love Maddie and really appreciate the great work that RHR does. This rescue was suggested to us by multiple friends, and I have to agree that they are fantastic. Highly recommended!
I adopted my Ellie from RHR who turned 1 today!! Welcoming a rescue pup into my family has been a wonderful decision. I now foster for Rhode Home Rescue and it has been so fulfilling to help find these beautiful dogs loving families. I have met so many people during this experience with the same goals and each and every one of them is truly amazing. Big hearts, dedicated and caring group. What a wonderful feeling to see that truck pull up with dogs looking for their forever homes and knowing I can be a small part of that. I recommend fostering to everyone and I am always asked the same questions. How do I not get too attached and how do I give them up? Very simple answer. I do get attached but I am their stepping stone on their journey home. I am not giving them up, I am handing them over to their final destination at last. I turn the page but will never forget each and every pup I have loved. This rescue has become part of my family, and the dogs forever in my ❤️.
We went to the adoption event and filled out the application on the way there. We were approved for the dog we wanted, signed some paperwork and took him home that day! We have two young children and were trying to find a shelter that would adopt a small dog to us, and weren’t having much luck even though our kids are very dog savvy. RHR met our kids, let us hold the dog, did not pressure us one way or the other, and despite there being 20 or so dogs there and a bunch of families, they kept it organized, fluid and quick. We are thrilled with our new family member. You guys, these people VOLUNTEER to do this... to meet trucks of dogs at all hours of the night to take them home to foster. Most of the time multiple dogs to one foster, dogs that haven’t had it very easy and are scared and dirty and who most likely wouldn’t have lived through the shelter they were pulled from. This is grueling, heart wrenching, valuable work. Please adopt. Validate this work and give these poor things a warm bed and a full bowl of food.
Rhode Home Rescue is a top notch Pet Adoption Agency. We recently adopted a beautiful Black Female Pomeranian, originally named Raven, now called Lily. We were very fortunate to have been contacted by our wonderful RHR Volunteers Julie P. and Raven's/Lily's foster mom, Shelli-Rose, who both made us feel so welcomed and appreciated. We are very lucky to have Lily in our home with our other Pomeranians Rocky II and Randy. furever grateful, Suzanne and Paul Walker
Met an adoptable dog on a Wednesday when she was with her current Foster. Contacted Rhode Home Rescue and immediately applied for adoption. Here I am Saturday night with a little nugget. Quick, professional and charismatic. Everyone I dealt with that was part of Rhode Home Rescue was delightful. There was a dog adoption event (where we actually got to take her home) this morning from 11-2. It was about 95 degrees out and humid. These volunteers were giving every ounce of love and energy they had to potential parents and the dogs. It was pretty awesome. I am thankful for a pleasant experience from beginning to end.
Our puppy, now 6 months, has been an absolute blessing to our family. RHR takes such good care of their animals, and we are forever grateful to them for bringing this little girl to be adopted in RI! Here ears are perky, her personality is loud and confident, and she is the most fun lady in any room. She enjoys her puppy lesson from Modern Dog training, and her days of daycare at Bow Chika Wow Town - which both help to socialize her during this strange time we are living through with being distant from everyone. She is thriving, and so is our family all thanks to RHR! Seriously can’t say enough about the adoption process, the care of the dogs, and the flawless follow through to ensure proper adoption. We are eternally grateful!
